Finger Lakes Symphony Orchestra - a Community Orchestra in the Finger Lakes region of New York State

Student Concerto Competition

The FLSO Young Artist Competition is an annual event, open to students who reside in the Finger Lakes Region. The competition aims to provide gifted, young musicians an opportunity to present their work for a panel of judges so they may be encouraged to aspire to the highest levels of performing excellence through written feedback. The grand prize is a cash award and a solo appearance with the FLSO. Honorable Mention certificates are also awarded to deserving students.

The FLSO is proud to announce this year's winners of The FLSO Young Artist Competition:

Cellist Benjamin Doane, in the ninth grade at The Harley School, performing the Popper Hungarian Rhapsodie

Violinist Chie Xu, in the tenth grade at Pittford Mendon High School, performing the first movement of the Barber Violin Concerto.

They will be featured on the FLSO's Spring Concert on May 3 at 3:00 at the United Church, 11 Gibson St., Canandaigua, NY. The concert is open to the public. Tickets will be available at the door.
